I would guess this is a size related issue and perhaps only an issue if they fit big on you. Stretch fabric behind the knees holds this secure to the knee and shin so it does not move. You can move it vertically 4 inches up or down to position it correctly for your height. I was worried about loose fitting knee armor after reading a few reviews but the knee armor fits snug for me. 500D Cordura (pewter gray color) covers the rest. 2000D Cordura (black color in pictures) is supposed to be more abrasion resistant than the single layer of 1.3mm leather used in most leather jackets.
Accordion expansion panels above knees and behind hips as well as stretch Cordura behind the back of the knees allow for freedom of movement.

Soft but thick leather covers the full length of the inside of both legs to protect against seat chafe and exhaust heat. I would say these are better designed/made than my previously owned Rev'It pants which sold for a similar price. As cool as mesh pants with the liners removed and vents open. Very well made and the front vent panels are huge. Revzilla wanted to charge $60 to ship the same item. He gave me a 10% discount for being a forum member and only charged me $36 for shipping to Canada (think he ships free in the US as he is US based). More money saved - bonus! For anyone purchasing gear in US or Canada I recommend Marks Moto Gear, basically he is a guy with a web site selling a limited selection of motorcycle gear I would assume as a sideline. The result is I did not have to pay the usual 15% sales tax Canada Customs levies on stuff when it crosses the border, guess they assumed it was a gift. These arrived in a non nondescript box with no packing slip.
Hope this info helps with your decision-making. I did not want to pay this much for pants, but the X-Motos are the ONLY pants I could find that met all of my criteria. Not sure I’d want the pewter now anyways as I have seen that the “sand” color is not as white as it looks in the online pictures. Of course, two days after I get the pants I receive a notice that the pewter are now in stock! Too late, I’ve removed the tags. It is slightly lighter in color than, and goes well with, my silver First Gear mesh jacket and my silver Cortech GX Sport 2. To me, they could have called the color light silver. color: I wanted the pewter, but couldn’t find it anywhere, and needed the pants ASAP (riding to work in most weather), so I got the sand color. Seems to work well just trying it at home.
The outside of the rain pants hook to the inside of the Cordura pants, so once you unzip both you can put them on or off (as one unit) over boots more easily than rain pants without the side zips. features: The rain pants have full length zippers down the leg, just like the legs of the outer layer, which is one of the main reasons I paid to get these pants compared to less expensive pants (other reasons included the venting, the 2000 denier Cordura layer, the ABSENCE of an quilted/insulated extra insert, which I hoped would allow the pants to more form-fitting/less baggy than other textile pants, and color – I did not want black). Pants seem sturdy/protective, without being overly stiff. build quality: Build quality seems good – no loose threads, unlike a Cortech jacket I recently bought. However, not bad, and I may not bother to have them hemmed. The length is an inch and half or two too long for me, even in riding position (sitting in a chair with my boots on). Can’t imagine the size 30 would have worked. This size does work well as an over-pant. The Olympia sizing chart states to go one size bigger than your regular pant size if you want to wear the X-Motos as over pants (which I did). Olympia X-Moto Pants initial impressions and info for those considering these pants (Haven’t ridden in the pants yet): I posted this review on the Revzilla site.
